(1/14/11) The review for the Bear Apprentice was left for us by Michael H. from Missoula, Montana. Thanks Michael for the review. After seeing the specs on this bow, I’m thinking it might be a good fit for my son. He’s outgrown the Genesis. Of course I’ll get him the Realtree APG.
I bought the bear apprentice for my wife for Christmas. She absolutely loves this bow. This was a surprise gift so she did not shoot this bow before I bought it, but with the adjust-ability in the draw length and weight without a bow press I had it fitting her in minutes. I did shoot this bow at the shop at twenty-seven inch draw and fifty-five pounds and loved it. This bow is quiet and a smooth draw and very light weight. There is very little hand shock and pretty forgiving which is very important for new archers.
We have hers set up at twenty-five inch draw at thirty-five pounds so she can build her muscles because this is her first bow. The bow tunes very easy and is extremely accurate. I would recommend this bow to anybody getting into this great sport. There are a few small cons to this bow that I noticed; first the dip job on the pink camo is not done the best so you can see minor flaws throughout. Also they tried saving money with the partial whisker biscuit they put on and it looks cheap.
Over all I would say this bow is a nine out of ten for a beginner shooter.
